Eyam is one of the prettiest of the Peak District villages and is famous as the village which put itself into isolation when the Plague arrived in 1665. There are numerous visual reminders of the Plague, a museum and a visitors trail which can be followed around the village. Eyam lies in the Peak District National Park and is only a few miles from other historic centres such as Buxton, Bakewell, Castleton, Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. Also within easy reach are famous walking centres such as Dovedale, Hope Valley and Edale. |
